Renewable Energy, Green Building, and Energy Efficiency
The Evergreen Institute’s Center for Renewable Energy and Green Building offers high-quality hands-on workshops in solar electricity (photovoltaics), wind energy, solar hot water (solar thermal) systems, and passive solar heating and cooling. We also offer workshops in residential energy efficiency, natural building, straw bale building, natural plasters, and green building.
Our solar training and green building workshops are geared to a diverse audience of homeowners, professionals, aspiring professionals, and educators. The Evergreen Institute is a nationally accredited training center, so classes in solar electricity and wind energy we offer satisfy requirements for NABCEP NABCEP Solar PV and Small Wind Installer certificates.
Our training takes place at a state-of-the-art facility built with green materials, designed for maximum energy efficiency, and powered by solar and wind. Student get hands on training and are able to study numerous renewable energy systems including a small system, three solar electric systems, and two solar thermal systems.
Here's a list of areas in which we offer training:

Certificates in Renewable Energy and Green Building

|
The Evergreen Institute offers nationally recognized certificates in Residential Renewable Energy, Residential Green Building, and Renewable Energy Educator.
The Residential Renewable Enegy and Residential Green Building Certificate Programs are designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in residential renewable energy and/or green building or furthering their credentials in these fields. Certificates are tailored to aspiring renewable energy professionals, established professionals, builders, developers, architects, and students of architecture.
The Renewable Energy Educator Certificate is designed for instructors at technical colleges, community colleges, and four-year institutions who are training aspiring professionals in existing and newly formed renewable energy programs. This program also serves individuals wishing to teach at for-profit and non-profit educational centers.
In 2010, we were accredited by the International Renewable Energy Council, so our solar training and wind energy workshops now qualify for NABCEP certification for small wind and solar PV installers.
In early 2010, we were approved to become an education provider through the US Green Building Council. LEEP-APs canwill be able to receive training in solar energy, including solar electricity and solar thermal systems, as well as training in wind energy, natural building, and straw bale design and construction.
In 2010, TEI was also approved as an education provider for the Midwest Renewable Energy Association. Certified solar hot water, small wind system, and solar electric system site assessors can take many of our courses to satisfy their continuing education requirements.
