Design and Build Your Own Wind Turbine Tower (4 days)

In this four-day course, taught by Dan Chiras, Ph.D., certified wind site assessor and author of Power from the Wind, Wind Energy Basics, and The Homeowner’s Guide to Renewable Energy and electrical engineer and TEI Instructor Fred Stuart, students will build a 120-foot tilt-up tower or guyed lattice tower at The Evergreen Institute's educational facility in east-central Missouri. Students will assemble the tower on site and participate in construction of steel-reinforced anchors and tower base.

Prerequisite: Students must take Intro to Wind (May 8, June 25, or July 25) prior to this class or equivalent courses through other institutions such as Solar Energy International or the Midwest Renewable Energy Association or exhibit a good understanding of wind systems and wind turbine towers.
