Participants will learn how to (1) assess a site for solar, (2) determine the type of system, (3) determine the best location for a PV array, and (4) provide clients with basic information on the size and type of system they will require. During this class, students will learn how to use solar site assessment software and tools, including Solar Pathfinder and Solar Pathfinder Assistant. Students will perform initial work for one practice PV site assessment, either a grid-connected PV system and an off-grid PV system, which helps apply information learned in the class. Three practice site assessments are required to become a certified PV site assessor through the Midwest Renewable Energy Association.
