Advanced PVs: PV Design and Installation Lab
(3 days)
In this three-day hands-on course, taught by Dan Chiras, Ph.D., author of Power from the Sun, Solar Electricity Basics, and The Homeowner’s Guide to Renewable Energy, students will size, design, and install a 1 to 2 kW grid-connected system with battery backup. Students will install the rack, mount the modules, and install a grounding system and conductors. Students install also a charge controller and inverter. Students will build and install a battery box. Time permitting, students will view slides and visit other other PV installations in the area.
This course qualifies for MREA's Continuing Education Credits for Certified Site Assessors.
