Advanced PVs: PV Design and Installation Lab

(3 days)

In this three-day hands-on course, taught by Dan Chiras, Ph.D., author of Power from the Sun, Solar Electricity Basics, and The Homeowner’s Guide to Renewable Energy, students will size, design, and install a 1- to 2- kW grid-connected system with battery backup. Students will install the ground-mounted rack, mount the modules, and install a grounding system and all conductors. Students install also a charge controller and an inverter. Students will build and install a battery box and will wire batteries and make all connections. Time permitting, students will view slides and visit other other PV installations in the area.

This course qualifies for MREA's Continuing Education Credits for Certified Site Assessors.
