Designing and Building a Net Zero Energy Home
(3 days)
In this three-day course taught by Dan Chiras, Ph.D., green building and renewable energy expert and author of numerous books on these subjects, including The New Ecological Home, The Natural House, The Homeowner’s Guide to Renewable Energy, The Solar House, Power from the Sun, and Power from the Wind and others, participants will explore what a net zero energy home is, how to design, and build one.
This course is approved for continuing education credit for LEED-APs through the US Green Buiding Council.
Topics include:
• What net zero energy means • Basic strategies for achieving net zero energy in new and existing homes • Detailed strategies for reducing energy demand • Air sealing and insulation
• Residential renewable energy options
• The Passive House Design and Construction
