Hands-On Natural Building (2 day)

This course applies for continuing education credit through the US Green Building Council and GBCI for LEED Accredited Professionals.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore natural materials are used to build safe, healthy, energy efficient, and environmentally friendly homes. Participants will explore pros and cons of numerous natural building materials and learn which materials will work best in their location. This workshop is taught by green building expert, Dan Chiras, author of The Natural Plaster Book, The Natural House, and The New Ecological Home.  

Participants will explore the theory and use of following natural materials:
    •    Straw bale
    •    Cob and Adobe
    •    Rammed earth
    •    Rammed earth tires
    •    Earthbags
    •    Straw-clay

Participants will have an opportunity to build with several natural materials, including cob, earthbags, straw bales, straw-clay, and rammed earth tires.

Cost:

Early Bird Special:  $200 (on or before 6/17)

Standard Registration:  $225 (after 6/17)
